The Heinrich Böll Stiftung is part of the Green political movement that has developed worldwide as a response to the traditional politics of socialism, liberalism, and conservatism. The main tenets are ecology and sustainability, democracy and human rights, self-determination, and justice with a particular emphasis on gender democracy, meaning social emancipation and equal rights for women and men. The Heinrich Böll Stiftung is further committed to equal rights for cultural and ethnic minorities and the societal and political participation of immigrants. Further, they promote non-violence and proactive peace policies. This is to be achieved via strategic partnerships with like-minded actors. The Heinrich Böll Stiftung is a green think tank as well as an international policy network focused on ecology, democracy, and human rights.

Climate Action

Ecology is one of the three pillars of the organization. On the EU level, the goal is to achieve a more aligned climate and energy policy to enhance. The Heinrich Böll Stiftung is doing so via publishing articles, flyers, reports, and research, hosting events, conducting interviews, and providing videos. Topics it focuses on are for instance the European Energy Transition as well as International Climate, Energy, and Agricultural Policy.
