Switching the Gears of Europe’s Energy and Climate Security Strategy: The View from Berlin

Berlin, 24 June 2022

The policy roundtable will focus on how the energy and climate security risks and options have changed for Europe amid Russia’s war in Ukraine, the renewed global power competition and the continuing urgency of climate change and energy transition.

Building on the Kremlin Playbook series, the Center for the Study of Democracy (CSD), a European public policy institute, has developed an Energy and Climate Security Risk Index (ECSRI), to track the energy supply security risks in relation to the standoff with Russia. The roundtable will discuss the pilot findings of the Index related to the possible solutions for the future of the EU energy and climate security. It will outline the crucial role that Germany will play in finding the right balance to drive forward the implementation of the REPowerEU plan.
